**The National Botanical Garden of Iran**, spanning **145 hectares**, is located on the southern slopes of the Alborz Mountain Range in the Chitgar area, northwest of Tehran.
The design and construction of this garden began in **1969** by Iranian experts in collaboration with a number of international consultants, and the comprehensive master plan of the garden was developed.
The master plan emphasized the creation of **sample habitats** representing various ecological regions of Iran and the world. Additionally, several **thematic collections** were designed for the garden with educational, research, and display purposes.
Among the designed habitats, **7 habitats** are dedicated to Iran, **6 habitats** represent global regions, and there are **8 thematic collections and gardens**.
The **nursery and propagation greenhouses** supply the plant materials required for the garden.
